NDIS rollout speeds up

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) rollout has sped up in some regions. Surprise! ? The decision to bring forward rollout dates has come with little fanfare but provides the opportunity for people to gain access to the scheme sooner. This can make a big difference for those who are close to the 65 age cut off (because…NDIS = Not Damn Interested in Seniors).

While it is great to hear that more people will get access to the NDIS sooner, it isn’t all upside. Minister Christian Porter noted while celebrating the announcement that ““While the NDIS roll out is going well in Queensland so far, we are seeing fewer access requests than we expected in the regions where the scheme is already operating,”. This deficit may be down to the National Disability Insurance Agency’s poor planning and actuarial errors, or worse, they could be representative of people being ignored and left behind.

The sped up rollout has been brought about by National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) agreeing with the State government of Queensland to change rollout dates for some regions. In Queensland, the NDIS rollout is based on your Local Government Area (LGA). Check the new rollout dates below to see if you are impacted:
