#5 Most Searched NDIS Support in 2016

5. Occupational Therapy

Often when you hear the word occupation, you think job. However occupational therapy is not some kind of job therapy, but about helping people do what they need to do in their everyday lives. Occupational Therapy Australia states that “The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Occupational therapists achieve this outcome by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do, or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement”

With enabling full and engaging lives for people with disability as a core purpose of the Scheme, there is a clear connection between the supports offered by occupational therapy and how they can be used to help people achieve their goals. This is why Occupational Therapy has ranked at number 5 in the most searched terms for NDIS supports in 2016.
