As played at the recent gala dinner, Expansion Media created an amazing video that reflects on the great work of Abacus and 10 Years of Achieving with Autism. The voice-over is by 6 year-old Luke who started at Abacus Learning Centre when he was only 18 months old. Luke is now in his first year of mainstream school and as you can hear he loved his time at Abacus. To ensure Abacus can help many more children, adolescents and young adults, we hope with community support to secure a larger more permanent home and help many more kids 'achieve with autism'. ... If your child is on the spectrum and you don’t know where to start having therapy… take a deep breath in, call the abacus learning centre, take your child there and exhale……your child is in safe and capable hands. Nothing is a problem, there are only solutions to them at abacus.

Miggy started his Abacus journey last September 2016. He has gone a long way in a span of about 8 months. His dominant needs of expressive language, behavioural support and the like have been fully addressed through his well tailored programs. He enjoys coming to Abacus and looks forward to earning new milestones as well as achieving learning outcomes. He has hurdled great challenges as well . Our family support and the Abacus team have proven that there are ways and means to get through the realities of Autism. We are very grateful to Miggy’s therapists, case manager and the entire Abacus staff for you have done such an amazing job to our son. He is now talking a lot which is a tremendous change. We hope to be working more with Abacus to continue to write new chapters in the life of our son. Abacus…….what can I say ? I hope you will continue to touch so many lives and families and be a source of hope and inspiration to the community.

We will forever be grateful for the day our paediatrician told us to take our 4YO son Fraser to the Abacus learning centre. What they have helped him achieve over the past six months has been nothing short of amazing! The constant family support and assessment of Fraser has turned him from our shy non verbal child into the happy, confident little boy we always knew was locked away in there somewhere. He continues to improve after each week of therapy and we look to his future and see amazing things….if your child seems locked away like our little boy was…..the Abacus learning centre has the keys.

My son attended Abacus from the age of 3 for 3 years. In this time what he achieved would never have been possible using just psychs, OT’s, speech therapists etc. They need many, many hours of one-on-one therapy and I believe Abacus can teach a child anything using the principles of ABA therapy. From a little boy that was non-verbal and very much trapped in his own world and great at throwing tantrums, he blossomed into a very confident chatterbox that engaged with adults and peers, had terrific imaginative play and went on to attend mainstream school, where he was indistinguishable from his peers. He is now nearly 9 years old and is in grade 3 and continuing to do very well academically except for maths. We have just recently started using Abacus again for a few hours a week to help with his maths and again what he has learnt in this wonderful environment – one-on-one, no distractions, positive reinforcement and therapists that know how to teach him – he is making terrific gains.
We will be eternally grateful to Abacus for changing our sons life, which in turn has changed our entire families life. If you have a child with autism I highly recommend you engage the services of Abacus – it’s an investment in your future!

My son spent 3 years at Abacus Learning Centre in his pre-school years. He undertook 30 hours of centre based one on one ABA therapy. Charlie responded very well to this method of teaching and quickly gained many skills and reduced behavioural issues. Charlie went on to successfully
graduate and attend main stream primary school unaided but with extra in school support for his learning.
We have recently returned to Abacus to undertake ABA Tutorting. Charlie attends one day a week to focus on his numeracy learning and a few other minor difficulties.

We are so very fortunate to not only have had the wonderful support of all at Abacus for Charlie’s
formative years, but now again to support him with his learning challenges.

Since starting with Abacus a year ago our son has transformed into the happy, outgoing and enthusiastic person we always knew he could be. We can’t thank everyone at Abacus enough for all their support and dedication. Without Abacus Hamish would still have a lot of obstacles to overcome before starting school.

My family and I have been associated with Abacus over the last 5 years. Both of my 2 children were diagnosed on the spectrum, both completing 3 years of ABA therapy. I could not speak more highly of them, their staff or what they have done to change our lives. Everyone involved, therapists, staff, families, are so kind, friendly, welcoming and professional. They have helped us through the most difficult time of our lives, given us hope, knowledge and the confidence to continue to move forward. Both non verbal, not toilet trained, unable to sit, listen or learn. I don’t know where we would be today without their help, guidance and support. They have taught our children how to learn, be comfortable in this world and in their own skin. We will be forever grateful. I would highly recommend Abacus to anyone in need!

Abacus changed my sons life! We will be forever grateful to the wonderful team of therapists at Abacus. Words cannot describe how thankful we are for the support Abacus has given our son and our family over the past 3.5 years. It’s remarkable to look back on all the video footage of our son and see how far he has come from his very first Abacus meeting to his final one. To all the Therapists that our son had the pleasure of working with, thank you for helping Levi be the best he can be. Special mention must go to our sons team of therapists – the bond this team have made with our son will be something he and us will treasure forever. We cannot thank them enough for all their hard work, persistence and reassurance over the years – our son would not be who is today without their assistance and love. We will never forget the impact you’ve had on Levi’s life, and for that we’ll be forever grateful. My family and I cannot thank all the staff at Abacus enough, they changed our son and our families life.

The positive behaviour changes I have seen in my nephew and the support my sister’s family receive is first class. I would recommend Abacus to any family looking for a holistic early intervention service. Their philosophy focuses on positivity and celebrating each autistic child as an individual by using their strengths to encourage learning and personal development.

Abacus Learning Center helped our son find his voice. This gave our son confidence and a passion for learning and more importantly a WANT to learn.
Through the help of Abacus and their amazingly supportive team comprising of psychologists, case managers and highly trained therapists our son has branched out and achieved some really amazing things that ordinarily we would probably take for granted.
I am and will forever be eternally grateful for this amazing organisation and for their continued support to our family and the invested interest they have in our sons ongoing progress and development.
Their unwavering commitment and support to families who have children with autism is what makes Abacus Learning Center so successful in helping these kids achieve great things.

Abacus has been such wonderful help for my son Phoenix. This is our second year at Abacus learning centre and we are just so thrilled and happy with how far he has come. They didn’t tip toe around anything when we started we got straight into the therapy and worked on speech from day one. Phoenix loves going to Abacus each day, he smiles when we arrive at the building and all the staff and therapist are so welcoming, it really is like a second family. Abacus are truly understanding of what we are going through and offer therapy and support to the kids and family members. Best decision we made to go to Abacus.

In January 2014 we began to worry about our little 18 month son. He screamed all the time, he wasn’t verbalising and he wasn’t interested in other people or his environment.
Being told that he had autism was devastating and what was even harder to deal with was the lack of direction provided by most healthcare professionals.
Discovering Abacus Learning Centre was our family’s lifeline. Finally we found a team of caring experts who knew there was potential in our little boy and had the keys to unlock his hidden intelligence and personality. The support we received from our whole therapy team has been invaluable and our little boy is today a totally different child. Having started therapy at 22 months old our son is now nearly 4. He is verbal (chatty even!), funny, clever and he loves to learn new skills. He has a real ability and love for letters and numbers and astounds us every day with new information and skills he’s picking up from therapy as well as normal everyday life. We have started mainstream 3 year old kinder this year and after a couple of supported sessions, he’s now independently navigating his first mainstream educational facility and we couldn’t be more proud.
We cannot speak more highly of our experience with the team at Abacus. We are so glad we started therapy when our son was so young and encourage anyone with a child on the spectrum to take the first step and make an appointment to set your child on a path of positive learning.

We were very blessed to find out about Abacus through a random internet search. Our world came crashing down around us in 2011 when our precious little man was diagnosed with autism. We were helpless and had no one to turn to. We tried Speech therapy and found that the therapist had no patience with our son. Our paediatrician did not give us any direction,as well, in regards to therapy. A phone call with Lauren, the Executive Director at Abacus was like a breath of fresh air. Finally someone understood what we were going through and was willing to help our precious boy.
The Clinical Director and therapists at Abacus were absolutely amazing. Always willing to help, both us as a family and our little boy.We will forever be grateful to each of them for the empathy and understanding they showed us.They have gone beyond what was expected of each of them and our son regarded Abacus as his second home. He has grown so much after four wonderful years at Abacus. He now attends mainstream school and most people comment on the transformation that they have seen in him after ABA therapy. From a boy who used to scream, cry and refuse to walk he has grown into a confident young man who runs into school each morning, eagerly anticipating the school day.

Amazing center, with amazing, caring, understanding staff and therapists.
I saw a huge change in my son with in 2 weeks of starting therapy sessions here. My little boy now starting to talk in sentences, is toilet trained, has friends, has learnt so many daily routines to do independantly and he is learning everyday how to cope in the busy world around him. (We can go shopping, dinners and visiting people with out meldowns ) he also is learning how to cope in a school enviroment and I am confident that when its time for school he will do well in a mainstream school enviroment. All this and much more is all thanks to Abacus, in a year they have helped him so much. They not only help you and your child but they actually care and you can tell the therapists not only love what they are doing but love to spend time and see your child for you they really are. Abacus help the rest of the world see how fantastic your child is just as you see them.
