Taking out the #5 spot for most in demand NDIS supports in 2017 is Support Worker. ‘Support Worker’ and similar variations (‘Support Workers’, ‘Disability Support Worker’, etc) were majorly popular terms in themselves, however it is interesting to note that this NDIS support was also really helped up the ranks this year by brand searches. CareNavigators were keen to find not only Support Workers generally, but keen to read reviews on the emerging Support Worker platforms like Hireup, Inlife and Better Caring.
Platforms like these have been growing in popularity over the last few years and emerged as a result of the NDIS. In a blend of UBER and Tinder-like features, these apps seek to provide a level of on-demand convenience and person-to-person matching where you can find Support Workers who share your interests. This could be a sign of things to come as more and more people consider these apps over traditional agencies that have dominated the Support Worker industry in years past.
Support Workers perform a range of roles in helping you achieve your NDIS goals. Whether it’s personal care, community activities or other opportunities, you can talk to your current Support Worker or find a support worker and work together to figure out how they can best help support you with your NDIS plan.
And if you’ve had experience with any of the new and emerging Support Worker platforms, be sure to share your experience, there are many people all across Australia who want to know what you think of them!
